My encounter with “Encounters”, a photo exhibition by Rony Zakaria
I took my Vespa and drove to the opening of a photo exhibition by Rony Zakaria an Indonesian photographer who shows his images which “were taken during free-wandering walks in the city”. My first impression was kind of, wow, actually some people take notice and come along! Seldom enough gallery openings fetch attention in this mega city with a poor track record of cultural events, gallery and museum offerings. The place was crowded! The opening was promoted via social media like Facebook for weeks, but I have seen people ‘joining’ to events by the hundreds and nobody actually showing up in the very end. Nice to see that this time really people moved their bums to
be there. Well, I didn’t count them, but I did not only see the usual suspects alone. Congratulations, someone promoted this event quite effectively!
So have a look to my snapshots of the evening. ->
I ordered the book in advance and have to wait to get it delivered to my doorsteps. I hope the book will be an experience as great as the exhibition and an encounter I will enjoy.
