Oscar Motuloh, a renowned Indonesian photographer will exhibit his works entiled “Soulscape Road” at Salihara Gallery, Jakarta. He will be also launching his first book.

In this exhibition, Mr. Motuloh shows photographs from his book under the same title. The images shown are compiled from his travels to disaster-struck regions of Indonesia. From the Tsunami in Acheh, the earthquake in Central Java and human-made disaster, the mudflow in Sidoardjo, East Java among those.

In his introduction to the work, he wrote:

“As far as the eyes could see, the scene was screaming sorrow to the top of its lung. Like a tragedy that implies the origin of grief. While behind the reporting lens, we witness the ruthlessness of natural phenomena. And, we can’t help ourselves but thinking of it as a mirror of life. A mirror that reflects our own selves. The cruelty of the nature that we see behind the viewfinder, is us.”

Oscar Motuloh is currently the Director of Antara Press Photo Agency and the Executive Director of Antara Gallery for Photojournalism. Soulscape Road is his first photo book, published by Red & White publishing. More details on the exhibition and the book is available at www.soulscaperoad.com.

The show is opening on October 2 and will continue until October 9.
